My grandfather with my father in our house in the mountains when they had something to throw away (old furniture, cookers, washing machines) loaded the car carrying the two curves away from the country and threw down a cliff in the woods . That was the place where everyone threw the bulky stuff that they had at home, it was a landfill in the country and how that there were many scattered throughout the countryside. Was considered normal, there was the collection, were the times of boom, real growth, everything was replaced by modern products, new, fashionable. Today, as then it would be unthinkable to do.
Times have changed since the sixties. At that time there arose problems of resource constraints, environmental impact, everything was permissible because it was the imperative to grow, produce, increase trade, no one could think of thinking of the consequences, no one thought to where that road would lead. The industrial system is increasing all the time in the block in capitalist and socialist, different in means, but essentially identical in purpose. No one thought of the simplest things (like the laws of thermodynamics), no one thought to human beings, trust in science and technology were at the highest level, everything would be resolved through knowledge and technical development. The development, defined as growth in production and sale of goods and services, was the only true objective, the creation of monetary wealth, nothing else.
Berlin Wall fell, socialism ideologically defeated, the market and the capital is globalized, has taken control of politics, economy and people's minds through the direct control of the media. The economic power has devised a foolproof system to create degenerate and needs and to encourage people to chase the money and wealth to live in modern times, the era of "anything is possible", "everything will be overcome by the development" of "There are no limits".
But my generation, the generation after the Soviet collapse, is beginning understand that it will pay heavy consequences for what our parents and our grandparents have chosen to do. Today's youth are increasingly aware: aware that the limits exist, primarily the limits of our planet, according to the limits of science and technology, so the limits of the human mind. These limitations diminish the economic system, bring into question the myth of development at all costs and awaken the consciences of young people in search of new horizons, new principles, new values, not money, and maybe even materials.
My generation is the one that came with the reform of the university education system, with the creation of the "three plus two" the Bologna Process, the college credits: reforms that have degraded the degrees and made them tools to chain students and to expand the study periods. Three plus two equals five rarely. After leaving the university after many years of struggle against the bureaucracy of our medieval universities, we have entered the world of work into full-blown global economic crisis.
Our generation, the generation born after the eighties, more and more is being separated from previous generations. Is identifying the responsibility for certain past choices and is trying to bring out that courage and dignity that will free us from feeling always called big babies, from feeling like a burden to our parents (who have created an empire of money), from feeling eternally young spoiled by the system itself, from feeling helpless and in bondage to a power complex. We already know that we do not it will never retire, will go against the world in environmental and climate crisis more and more often, which probably our life will be shortened by as pollution (air, soil, water, food using pesticides) and disease from overwork and stress for managers.
The current ruling class (composed of sixty), who still looks in great shape and can withstand long, is telling young people that the future will be terrible just because of their past choices, but at the same time corrupts the young and well-being with the fake with fake achievements. There it is saying quietly, almost laughing and giving us a pat on the shoulder. Have used almost all non-renewable resources of the world and maybe want to do before you die the final assault. The only sure thing is that they will bring their stuff in the hereafter: it would be good to remember sometimes.
